A Pilot's evening round

What an evening looks like for a ShopZo Pilot: short trips, familiar shops and one clear step at a time.

Fresh tomatoes

This is an illustrative story. The people and shops in it are composites written to show how ShopZo works. They are not real customers, and nothing here is a testimonial.

Arjun (an illustrative name) grew up in the colony he now delivers in. He knows the short cut behind the temple and which building's lift is always broken. That local knowledge is exactly what a ShopZo Pilot needs.

Getting verified

He signed up in the Pilot app with his name, phone number, vehicle type, city and pincode. Before his account was switched on, a member of the ShopZo team met him in person to check his identity, his vehicle documents and his bank details. Only then could he go online.

One pickup, one drop

At six he goes online. The first order comes from a general store four lanes away. Every ShopZo order comes from one store, so there is one pickup. He does not have to collect from three shops for one customer.

  1. He rides to the store. The shopkeeper has already packed the bag and marked it ready.
  2. He checks the order number, takes the bag and the shopkeeper marks it handed over.
  3. The app shows the customer's address. He marks the order on the way.
  4. At the door, the customer checks the bag and pays on delivery. He marks it delivered.

Why it works

The trips are short because shops only appear to customers within their own delivery reach. Arjun is not crossing the city; he is moving around his own part of it. Shopkeepers start to know him by name, and so do the families.

The shops are the warehouse. The Pilot is the bridge.
