A family's monthly ration, sorted

How a busy household could shop from the stores it already trusts, and stop losing evenings to the monthly list.

Loose rice grains

This is an illustrative story. The people and shops in it are composites written to show how ShopZo works. They are not real customers, and nothing here is a testimonial.

Sunita (an illustrative name) works full days and looks after her parents-in-law. Her family has bought from the same two shops for years: a kirana at the corner and a dairy across the road. The shops are good. Finding the time to go is the hard part.

Starting from the address

She installs ShopZo, signs in with an OTP and sets her address. The app does not show her every store in the city. It shows the shops that can actually reach her lane, with how far they are, whether they are open now and what each one is offering.

Her corner kirana is there. So is the dairy.

The monthly list, once

On the first Sunday of the month she opens Ration and builds the list the way she says it out loud: ten kilos atta, two kilos toor dal, one litre mustard oil, tea, sugar, washing powder. She can type it or simply speak it. She sends the whole list to one store, the kirana she trusts, and reviews it before she orders.

One store, one cart

Later in the week she remembers bread. The bakery is a different shop, so ShopZo asks first: start a new cart? It never quietly mixes two shops into one order. One order means one bill and one handover, which is exactly what she wants.

Paying at the door

Because it is her first order, she applies FIRST30: 30% off an order of ₹199 or more, up to ₹150. She does not need a card or a UPI PIN to order. She pays when the ShopZo Pilot arrives, and she can follow each step until then: accepted, packed, on the way.

The same shops, the same prices. The only thing she gave up was the queue.
